Arabic Courses: Salam Palestine offers a range of Arabic courses, including super-intensive, intensive, and non-intensive options. These courses cover various dialects, such as Levantine (Shami or Ammiya), Palestinian colloquial Arabic, and Modern Standard Arabic (Classical Arabic). When Do Intensive Arabic Programs in Palestine Take Place?

Our Arabic immersion classes span from one week to three months (13 Weeks) year-round (Summer, Winter, Fall, and Spring). If you are looking for a concise or extensive intensive Arabic course in the area of the Middle East – Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, or are interested in the full cultural experience, we can easily accommodate you. You are free to choose the time and level of study to suit your needs, language ability, learning preferences, or other wishes.

Where Do Arabic Programs Take Place?

The Intensive Arabic Programs will be hosted in Hebron at the Excellence Center/Engage in Palestine facility, which is conveniently located just 30 kilometers from Jerusalem.

During the Arabic Program, you can travel independently and discover unique tourist attractions from a local perspective. Visit places like Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron, Tulkarm, Qalqilyah, Jenin, and the Dead Sea in Jericho.

Furthermore, weekends in Israel offer the chance to explore renowned historical cities such as Jericho, Jerusalem, Akko, Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, Eilat, Tiberias, Nazareth, Be’er Sheva, Ashdod, and Masada. Venture to Jordan to visit ancient sites in Petra, Amman, Wadi Rum, Irbid, and Aqaba, expanding your experiences in the Middle East!

Weekly Arabic Hours

Salam Palestine offers its Intensive Arabic Program at four levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced. Students will receive 20 hours of Arabic per week, totaling 80 hours for the entire summer program.

We also encourage students to book 2 hours of private lessons daily to assist with homework, practice Palestinian Arabic, and apply what they learn in the classroom.

With all our Arabic courses and volunteer programs in the West Bank, Palestine, we aim to make a long-term difference for the Palestinian local community through the exchange of ideas and “walking in each other’s shoes”. Our Arabic programs and courses foster shared learning for both our community and you.

During your Arabic course, you will get to learn so much more than just the language. You will also get to learn a lot about Palestinian culture and customs, and the political situation in Palestine. At various levels, we offer intensive courses in Levantine (Shami Arabic), Palestinian Arabic, and Modern Standard Arabic. Furthermore, our summer Arabic programs, one-on-one lessons, and winter intensive courses are perfect for anyone interested in studying Arabic in Palestine.

1. Individual Arabic Courses in Palestine

One-on-One Private Arabic Courses (Online & In-Person): Salam Palestine offers personalized, one-on-one Arabic lessons in Palestinian Arabic, Levantine dialect (Levantine Arabic, also called Shami (autonym: ‏شامي‎ šāmi or اللهجة الشامية el-lahje š-šāmiyye), Modern Standard Arabic, and Ammiyya Arabic, available both online and in-person.

Study Palestinian Colloquial Arabic: Salam Palestine offers a variety of courses in this language. These include intensive Palestinian Arabic courses, winter Arabic programs, summer Arabic programs, and online Palestinian Arabic programs. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who wish to learn the colloquial Palestinian Arabic (Ammiya or Levantine dialect), connect with the broader Palestinian diaspora, and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of Palestine and the Levant.

Scheduling is dependent upon the level and intensity of the selected program; however, courses are generally conducted five days a week for those studying intensively and three days a week for those in non-intensive programs. Those wishing to join Salam Palestine as volunteers or community service members can enroll in 3 complimentary hours of intensive Arabic per week.

Levantine Colloquial Arabic: The Levantine Colloquial Arabic program, also known as the Shami or Ammiya dialect program, offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to improve their spoken Arabic skills by learning the Levantine dialect (Shami Arabic). With options for both intensive and non-intensive tracks, this program enables you to enhance your language skills while also providing an immersive experience of the rich culture and history of the Levant.

4. Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) Program

Study Modern Standard Arabic (MSA): Salam Palestine offers Super-Intensive, Intensive, and Non-Intensive MSA courses, tailored to six proficiency levels, from absolute beginner to advanced. Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), also known as الفصحى (Fus-ha) or Literary Arabic, is the formal, standardized version of Arabic used in writing, media, and formal communication across the Arab world.

As the foundation for all Arabic dialects, including Levantine, Ammiya, Egyptian, and North African, MSA is an essential choice for learners aiming to master the Arabic language in its full regional context. Regardless of dialect, the vast majority of Arabic speakers will be able to recognize Standard Arabic as it derives directly from the Classical Arabic found in the Qur’an and other historical texts. Because of this close relationship to Classical Arabic, MSA has become the standardized form of contemporary written Arabic.

5. The Summer Intensive Arabic Program

Summer Intensive Arabic Program: If you’re seeking an immersive Arabic education this summer, look no further than our Summer Arabic Immersion Program. Modern Standard Arabic Program (MSA)
